Positano - Romantic Sea City Of Italy

Positano is a municipality in the province of Selerno in the Italian region Campania. Once a poor coastal fishing village since the early 20th century, Positano has now become one of the famous places to attract tourists.

The small city with over 3,000 inhabitants and a few hundred rooftops all over the coast, Positano did not need to go through any polls that poetry itself brought into the world of romance.

With small, dreamy streets and houses of pastel color that are close to each other, unevenness of cliffs captivates poetic and romantic souls.

Coming to Positano, you can't help but visit the church of Santa Maria Assunta, the largest and most beautiful Gothic church in Italy. Stand on the beach in Positano and you'll see the church of Santa Maria Assunta. The blue, yellow and green ceramic roof creates a highlight for this 10th-century church among the town's beautiful pale-colored buildings.

On the cathedral dome are winged angels and many artworks adorn the walls. When exploring the chapels and altars, visitors will admire the collection of beautiful paintings. One of the most famous works here is Circumcision of Fabrizio Santafede.

The center of the church is the Byzantine-style Black Lady statue above the main altar. Legend has it that people took this 12th-century statue from a stranded ship in Positano. The sailors believed that they had heard the statue's claim to be taken out of the ship and the captain had asked to leave the statue to the coastal village.

And to Positano, you can hear the story of the mermaid from any elderly person you come across. These are the mermaids who often appear off Positano in the midst of the blue waters of the bright moon nights to seduce sailors on the Ulysse's ship in "Odissey"

If you have the opportunity to visit Positano, try to taste the wine originating from Naples Bay, made with essential oils extracted from lemon peel and is a famous export product of Italy. Great taste of Limocello.

Positano is also known and secretly loved by romantic movies, with beautiful love scenes in Italian style. These are Only you (1994), the Under the tuscan sun (2003) or most recently, Kath & Kimderella (2012).
